Men's Mental Health Luncheon
On August 9th, a charity Men’s Luncheon was held at the Sage Hotel, Wollongong.
The event was organized by local GP, Dr Steffan Eriksson, and David MacFarlane, Director & Founder of the ARHG Foundation Ltd & the Festival of FUN, to raise funds for people with a disability.
The audience included current and previous sporting personalities and prominent local businessmen invited as VIP guests.
World Champion MMA fighter, Alex Volkanovski featured in the keynote interview where he discussed his career and achievements.
A number of guest speakers were invited to present on topics related to Men’s physical and mental health.
These included ex-professional sportsmen, Specialist Physicians, and motivational speakers who entertained and inspired those who attended the luncheon.
Dr Jones was among those invited to speak and volunteer their time.
His presentation was titled “Optimising Physical and Mental Well-Being As We Age”.
He stressed the role of exercise, nutrition, and sleep in optimizing our physical health as we get older, touched upon current trends in research relating to longeivity, and highlighted the impact our mental well-being and thoughts have upon our physical health.
The event was successful in reaching the targeted funds, and the organisers are planning future luncheons, including a similarly themed event for Women.
